The Chrysler 200 was not a car that attracted the right kind of attention, but a new 2015 Chrysler 200 is on the way with looks and chops that Chrysler hopes will earn it a place in your garage instead of on a rental car lot.
Chrysler announced the new 200 sedan this week in S and C trim levels to appeal to potential Fusion and Camry buyers with a mix of style, price and fuel economy.
The Chrysler 200 is the first mid-size sedan with a standard 9 speed transmission which should help deliver better fuel economy and a nice mix of power. Chrysler claims 35 miles per gallon which an automatic fully disconnecting rear axle should help deliver.
There are a lot of specs and chatter about what makes the Chrysler 200 special, but the easiest way to show you how this car is different from previous models. Below is a look through Google Glass to put you in the driver’s seat of the 2015 Chrysler 200.
The Chrysler 200 is available in two engine options, a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 capable of a best-in-class 295 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, or a standard 2.4-liter MultiAir 2 Tigershark I-4 engine capable of 184 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque.
Chrysler boasted an array of safety features including one which secures the car if a user turns off the engine and unbuckled before putting it in park and others such as,
- Adaptive Cruise Control – Plus: that under certain circumstances and without driver intervention, can bring the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 to full stop
- Full-speed Forward Collision Warning – Plus: a Chrysler Group first that provides autonomous braking and, under certain circumstances, slows or brings the vehicle to a full stop when a frontal collision appears imminent
- LaneSense Lane Departure Warning – Plus: introduces steering-wheel input as well as a warning message in the instrument cluster to alert the driver of inadvertent lane departure and assist with corrective action
Other design features include an electronic shifter, a pass through area to stow charging phones and gadgets as well as MOPAR branded parts.
The Chrysler 200 MSRP is listed as $21,900 without the destination fee, putting it up against the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry. Check out the photo gallery below for more 2015 Chrysler 200 photos.
