The Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet is an interesting vehicle. We declared it one of the ugliest vehicles that are on sale today, going to far as to say we’d rather walk than drive it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the CrossCabriolet’s looks are funky and modern. Whether the looks are loved or hated, it is making a statement (unlike some vehicles on sale) and is actually a really fascinating vehicle. We are going to share with you a few reasons why.
1. It’s a Convertible
The Murano CrossCabriolet is a 4WD Crossover Convertible.
Unless you are driving a full-on sports car, driving a convertible does not really affect the performance of a vehicle. Also, driving a convertible is thrilling, even at low speeds, because of the infinite headroom, fresh air breezing by, and all of the sensory experiences of not having a roof. There is nothing like driving a convertible on a daily basis (except perhaps riding a motorcycle), and the Cabriolet part of the CrossCabriolet is that it is a convertible.
2. It’s a 4WD Crossover
The CrossCabriolet’s convertible soft-top is insulated for winter driving.
Convertible sports cars are difficult to own in the winter, either due to their rear-wheel drive or their choice of summer tires. With the CrossCabriolet, that is not a concern. The Cross part of CrossCabriolet indicates that the vehicle is a Crossover. In fact, it is a 4WD crossover. That means this vehicle can handle all the snow and slush that comes with winter. It should even be capable of some light off-roading. Try doing that in a MX-5!
Also, being a crossover it does have space. The back seats are functional, and there is a decent amount of storage space throughout. That means that the CrossCabriolet is great in the summer, it’s great in the winter, it’s great in bad weather, and it’s great for a road trip! Score!
3. It’s a Luxury Car
The CrossCabriolet comes loaded with luxury goodies.
Yes, Infiniti is the luxury-arm of Nissan, but the CrossCabriolet does not disappoint with luxury features. A premium stereo that knows if the top is up or down helps improve the acoustics. Leather is wrapped throughout, and the seats are heated (great for those cool top-down days). All of this premium luxury comes in at a lot less money than a comparable Audi (not that there really is a crossover convertible from Audi).
4. It Makes a Statement
Nissan’s design cues are everywhere on the CrossCabriolet.
Nissans of late have had some funky designs that really stretch the limit of exterior automotive styling. The Juke, for example, is a oddly shaped little utility crossover with funky headlights and jagged edges. Now, Chrysler is mimicking some of that design in the new Jeep Cherokee. Maybe the bold design of the CrossCabriolet is also not a “wrong” design?
Regardless of your view of the exterior, it is difficult to deny that Nissan took a risk with the styling. For that reason alone, they should be praised. Like it or hate it, it does have a certain presence that many crossovers do not have. Ultimately, that is why someone would choose this vehicle to purchase, and why the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet is special!
