Ford re-unveiled the new 2015 Ford Mustang at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas as a press event emceed by Raj Nair. After the event, Motor Review had the opportunity to speak with Ford’s group vice president, Global Product Development about several topics, including if and when MyFord Touch will receive Sync AppLink support. Ford has been coming to CES for 8 years now, and they view themselves as a technology company, as well as an automotive company. We have lamented for awhile now about the lack of both of those services working together, and are eager to learn if and when the integration will finally occur.

Raj Nair, group vice product, Global Product Development, spoke with Auto Geeks about future plans.

Ford has placed a lot of emphasis on bringing as many customers who have Sync (but may not have AppLink), and version 2 of AppLink will support apps such as Domino’s Pizza, ADT Security Systems, and more. Mr. Nair, during his speech, touted the open development platform (Open XC) and spoke of how the system is designed for developers to have their apps in as many vehicles as possible.

Hopefully soon Ford will be unveiling MyFord Touch integration with Sync AppLink

When asked about when AppLink and MyFord Touch will be together at last, Mr. Nair told Auto Geeks that, “We are currently trying to take care of our Sync customers now, and making sure they can enjoy the AppLink system.” Indeed, there are many more Sync-enabled vehicles on the road than MyFord Touch vehicles. It is admirable that they want to make sure their legacy customers are taken care of. That shows they are committed to all of their customers, even long after the initial sale. Mr. Nair did seem positive about the future of AppLink and MyFord Touch, so while we may still be waiting with baited breath, development appears to be continuing on.
