This week in the Motor Review garage we have the 2014 Chevrolet Spark. At only 84 horsepower, this car won’t win too many street races. It wasn’t designed for that. Designed to be a small city car, the Spark does pack some interesting features and versatility into a very small package. Being easy to drive, easy to park, and easy on gas are the cornerstone of a good city car. Here are a few things we find interesting at first glance.
Fuel efficiency isn’t the only thing that makes this car green.
Airbags and Safety
This car has 10 airbags. If you have ever seen The World is Not Enough, James Bond uses an inflatable jacket to avoid an avalanche. We expect the Chevy Spark to do the same thing in an accident.
Additionally, this car comes equipped with OnStar standard. In an accident, the car will automatically call for help and provide first responders with your location and accident severity.
Rear Seat Room
The Spark has surprising rear seat room for a car this small.
The rear seat has a lot of legroom for a car of this size. Just peering into the back makes your jaw drop. How the heck did they fit that much leg room into a car this small? Open the rear hatch and you’ll see why. Little cargo space exists with the seats up.
Cheap Infotainment
The touchscreen only costs an additional $200.
The touch screen MyLink radio comes standard on the 2LT trim vehicle we are reviewing. $200 will equip the system on cars without it. Add $60 for the BringGo app functionality and navigation in the Chevy Spark comes at a significantly lower cost than many of Chevy’s rivals.
