[tps_title]Hill Start Assist Light[/tps_title]

check engine light

The green hill start assist light will light up when a car equipped with the system sits on a hill. Some cars with automatic transmissions have the system, and a lot of manual transmission vehicles have it.

The system applies the brakes automatically to prevent the car from rolling backwards down a hill. This is useful on manual transmission cars since it’s difficult to operate three pedals with only two feet. This takes the pressure of the driver worry about rolling backwards into the car behind them.

The light should only illuminate when the system is in use. If it lights up a different color, it could mean there’s a problem with the system. Schedule an appointment with your mechanic if the light isn’t green and is always on.
